2025 Paddle SA Canoe Sprint State Championships

The 2025 Paddle SA Canoe Sprint State Championships were held on Saturday the 25th January.

The competition started in near perfect conditions with light winds and slightly overcast skies.

Racing was competitive with most events having close finishes and good times posted.

One of the highlights was the 500m K4/C4 events with eight boats across two races, and in the first of the two races the coaches’ K4 had an exciting and very narrow win over the junior men’s K4 by 0.42s to secure bragging rights.

Thank you to all who competed, volunteered and supported the event, which marks the end of the 2024-25 PSA Canoe Sprint Series.

Good luck to all of our athletes who are going on to compete at the Paddle Australia Canoe Sprint Grand Prix 2 and National Championships in Penrith in February and March, respectively.

Paddle SA and the PSA Flatwater Technical Committee wish to thank you all for your support of the Sprint Series and we look forward to a bigger and better 2025-26 series, which will kick-off in October.

Paddle SA Canoe Sprint Point Score

In the 2023-24 PSA Canoe Sprint Series, the PSA Flatwater Technical Committee introduced the new concept of a “Point Score” competition.

The aim of the Point Score was to recognise participation and performance by athletes through a system of points that is based on attendance and results across the Sprint Series.

The points are attributed in the three Canoe Sprint disciplines of Kayak, Canoe and Paracanoe and in the Female/Male and Junior/Senior categories.

Awards were presented at the recent PSA Canoe Sprint State Championships for the 2023-24 and 2024-25 Sprint Series and congratulations go to the following category winners:
